I have been flipping through them and I love them. Very useful and concise scenarios. Make the flow of diagnoses easy to remember. Only thing is that they're so tightly boxed I'm sometimes struggle to not bend them when tugging them out of the box

I had assumed that this would be a collection of digital flash cards. It is not. It's a mishmash of flashcards as a continuous "book." It is not useful as a study tool, however the information is still good and the table of contents and index are useful, so it gets 2 stars instead of 1.Just buy the real cards.

overall they are very good, but they don't have the basic concepts like inflammation, neoplasia etc. it's just clinical presentation/cases. Also I was a bit disappointed that it didn't include pictures of the structural changes in the tissues

I love the fact that these are very well organized. Being a former lecturer of pathology, I highly recommend these for a very quick and precise review work.

This is my first book for 2018, just finished last night. I was, and still am, reading another book at the same time, but for the first book of the year, this one seemed the most appropriate. It's not just because I am a big Le Guin and have been since high school, it's also because her work has always been a touchstone in my life, from The Dispossessed and Left Hand of Darkness and Language of the Night and ... (insert a string of titles here ) all read and reread I don't know how many times. I wrote my dissertation on her rhetorical use of myth.I recognized, and still recognize, myself in her stories and essays and I did, again here, in this beautiful collection of short essays and musings, in which she is examining "the last great frontier of life, old age, and exploring new literary territory: the blog, a forum where her voice--sharp, witty, as compassionate as it is critical--shines" (front cover). The subject matter ranges questions from readers, her cat, Pard, turning 80+, faith and belief, among others. She writes, as always, with grace and style. Her prose is beautiful. As Michael Chabon says, "As a deviser of worlds, as a literary stylist, as a social critic and as a storyteller, Le Guin has no peer" (back cover).My love affair continues.Highly recommended.

Do you realize how many books, and in how many genres, poet-fiction writer-essayist Ursula JK. Le Guin has published to date? Using the listing in the front of her latest collection, there are 23 works of fiction (novels and short stories, some of them extraordinarily influential), eleven books of poems (and a twelfth is mentioned in a piece in this book), and two volumes of translations (of Lao Tzu and Gabriela Mistral). She’s a force! And as in a collection of occasional pieces I just reviewed by polymath Umberto Eco (Chronicles of a Liquid Society), even her most occasional postings have substance. Reaching her early and then mid-eighties, she decides to venture into blogging. She posts sage to pithy comments on a wide range of topics, from the ups and downs of aging (read her assessment of the Harvard alumni survey), to the joys of raising a kitten to adult cathood. She writes: “I’ve lost faith in the saying ‘You’re only as old as you think you are,’ ever since I got old. ”She takes on the current fascination with the two most common cuss words, one dealing with procreation (but not really procreation, really with dominance and battering), the other with excretion. On being a writer, she notes that meaning in art isn’t the same as in science: “The meaning of the second law of thermodynamics … isn’t changed by who reads it, or when, or where. The meaning of Huckleberry Finn is…. Art is what an artist does, not what an artist explains…. All I expect of a good potter is to go and make another good pot.” There are sage comments on the craft of writing, on how being a woman writer discriminates against one in a still male dominated publishing and critics’ world. She asks why we never question the desirability of economic growth. And in a follow-up essay asks, “when did it become impossible for our government to ask its citizens to refrain from short-term gratification in order to serve a greater good?” (This is as close as she comes to an environmentalist critique in these short essays.) There is a lovely doggerel verse for her cat. (“His paws are white, his ears are black. / When he isn’t around I feel the lack……”) Praise of a John Luther Adams piece. A visit to the Food Bank in Portland, Oregon. Meditations on a lynx, caged up in a wild life museum…. If you like good writing, and following the workings and musings of a sharp, oftimes witty, always observant mind at work, you’ll enjoy and admire these essays. I know I did.

These are collected blog posts, mostly, on a variety of subjects. I'm an older woman, and reading it was like sitting and talking with a dear friend. I suspect it will not seem so sharp, and funny, and wise to others. If you ARE an old lady, get this book. You will not be sorry.

We all lost an important voice for sanity and compassion when Ursula Le Guin died yesterday. All of her writing — essays, poetry, fiction, blog entries — showed the same compelling passion and sharp insight. This wonderful book is comprised of entries on her blog over a period of time. Whether she writes about her cat, her writing itself, or the state of the world, she does so with an acute understanding that will only enlighten readers.

Ursula Le Guin is a remarkably prolific and varied writer, and a deep thinker. She's written dozens of novels that are masterful (mistressful?) -- exciting and thought provoking, several volumes of poetry and even a couple of translations. Now we are presented with this wonderful gift -- a collection of essays about aging, art, cats and the meaning of life.As the author pioneers her eighties, she introduces the book with admiration for Jose Saramago and her exploration of a new frontier -- blogs.Some people are calcified and old at thirty; some, like Le Guin, are spring chickens at eighty. These essays address an interesting array of topics. I find LeGuin to be honest and fair. Sometimes cynicism marks an observation, but who can traverse this world without sometimes being disappointed? Equally often she registers great optimism and hope.America is not a country that values its elders. That is a pity because it means a lot of wisdom is ignored. I hope the words of someone of Le Guin's reputation and popularity will not fall on deaf ears. These are things we should hear, things we should consider, and this author is someone worth listening to.These are short essays, easy to read in a few minutes and provocative enough to keep you thinking. Great reading material for bedtime or when you just have a few minutes to read (but a lifetime to consider).

If you are considering purchasing this book, I assume you are already familiar with the Walking Dead. This hardcover collection is my favorite way to read and collect the series. It saves so much room versus buying single issues or the trade paperbacks. The beautiful hardcover protects the stores and ensures they will last for a while. Each volume contains 12 comics as well as some rare artwork and commentary from Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard. I love how these look on my shelf and I would recommend them to ANY Walking Dead fan, whether you are brand new to the comics, or already own single issues or trade paperbacks.....these are THE way to collect, read, and enjoy them!!

I got the kindle version and it was hard to read the larger panels on my small phone screen. It was perfectly fine on a larger tablet.If you are a fan of the show and haven't read this, I will warn you that there are substantial differences. It is as if a drunk person explained the plot of the comic books to the screenwriter in a loud bar, and them the screenwriter wrote the show from memory a month later. This is to say that the 'highlights' from the comics made it to the show, but it is still a different story.People are on here trying to review this with deep literary analysis techniques, as if this were Shakespear or Proust or something. This is a comic about zombies. There are many like it, but this is the best one.If you like the show, you will like the comics. I promise. They complement each other, but are different enough to warrant spending time on both.

I bought this after watching the first 7 seasons of the TV show (and being severely disappointed with it from about season 4 onward), and it’s GREAT. I’m so grateful that the TV show inspired me to check out the comic, because the comic is better in many ways—but also, it’s different enough from the TV show that it’s engaging even from the pure plot and character development perspective, since people and events diverge so frequently from what I expect from watching the series.I’ve ordered (but not yet received) the next two volumes of the compendia [shifts glasses up nose], based on how good this volume is. Already, there are so many things that are different from the series, that I’m on the edge of my seat just wondering how things can possibly turn out here.HUGE SPOILERS for those who don’t care about surprises but want to get a sense of how different the comic is from the series: So there’s no Daryl, Merle, or Beth; Sophia, Lori, and Dale live but Carol dies; Carol is a needy sex freak; Rick loses his right hand early on; Michonne shacks up with Tyreese, Andrea shacks up with Dale; they never use the term “walkers” but DO discuss terminology periodically; Glenn isn’t a virgin at the beginning.

I've purchased all volumes up to 22 and the TV show has just about caught up to wear I am in the novels. These books are friggen awesome. I don't read much and my buddy lent me VOL 1 after he knew I liked the show. Well, I burned through the first one and then just went on a tear buying 4 volumes at a time...the price is pretty good for what you get out of these. $9-$15 is the range I've paid per novel, I'm not sure why they aren't the same but anyways, I keep buying them none the less. The story was written before the TV Show and the show follows the story but there is some differences. The written story is more violent and graphic then the tv show but the tv show does a decent job of sticking with main ideas. I've noticed that certain plot things that happen in the book also happen in the show but there is a unique twist like a different character it happens to or something like that. Which makes reading these volumes great cuz I have some idea of where the story is going (after having watched all tv episodes) but there are still surprises. If you like the TV show and haven't read these, give it a try and you will get a whole new experience of the Walking Dead story. I'm putting this same review under every volume I've purchased (1-22) so people can see it. go buy these!

I can't wait til the hubby is done with these so I can actually read them. We are fanatic TWD watchers and I finally got a chance to check these off on his Christmas list!!! He isn't a very big reader , but oh my goodness he read through these so fast!! and the entire time I had to tell him to stop telling me parts cause I wanted to read them, he said that they are um a little more "informative" than the show, so I would say NSFK's, which im really happy that he read them first and we know not to hand them over, we even feel uncomfortable giving them to our 15yo. I got him books 1&2 and plan on working on getting him a set of 2 twice a year. I would suggest getting them after you've watched the show only because if you read them first you might be a little disappointed that some things don't happen in the show that happen in the book. But if reading after the watching the show it gives a little more depth to most of the scenes. overall im happy with my purchase and plan on getting more

I get excited every year they put another one of the Omnibuses out. The artwork is phenomenal, and the inclusion of additional covers, sketches, and other drawings at the end is a welcomed finish. It is a big heavy book, so definitely designed as a collector's item. Highly recommended.Update: anyone know if #7 is coming out? These have been perfectly timed in the past to come out around the holidays and this year, nothin.Update: I contacted a distributor and they said while they don't have an official release date for Omnibus 7, they estimated sometime in July/August 2017

I have had the unfortunate task of dealing with the nightmare of LICE. I read the book and used some of the advice with the olive oil. Then I used NiX which worked after using it twice the first week and then when lice came back, used it 2 more times.Thankfully it is now, knock on all wood surfaces :), gone. I recommend the book if you need it, and I wish you all the luck in the world!!!

I know it's already a small book, but there's still tons of fluff. I could really do without the opening story. The olive oil treatment is the way to go. This book is cheap and definitely worth it. It made me realize that lice are really not that big of a deal. A stupid, slow bug that doesn't carry disease. Get the book, just skim the fluff and skip to the important stuff.

This book has a lot of good info, and we're following its plan. One thing that's a little concerning is that it contains some misinformation about some of the chemical products it advises against. It states that Malathion (which we were just prescribed to use, for better or worse) is banned in the US by the FDA. This is not true.[...]Maybe the FDA has been bought by the head lice industry (wouldn't surprise me), but statements like this should be corrected.

We followed the advice of this book and suffocated them with olive oil. It's the only thing that worked for us.

The information is presented in an entertaining while very informative way. Quit fighting the same old over-the-counter routine...get this information so you can eliminate these critters for good, and KNOW with complete confidence that it's going to work Greatly. This was the first book by Lynn H. Blackburn that I have read, but it definitely won't be the last. Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres, and Beneath the Surface did not disappoint! Beneath the Surface is the first book in her Dive Team Investigations Series. Having Dive Team Investigations as the premise of the series was so intriguing. This was a fast-paced thrilling romantic suspense novel that kept the reader guessing until the end. I was completely surprised by "whodunnit," but I would have liked to see more of a reason "why" the person committed the crimes. However, in real-life criminal cases, we don't always get the answer of "why" either. The author’s knowledge and research in the both the medical field and law enforcement was evident.I loved the long time friendship of Leigh Weston and Ryan Parker and the possibility of it turning into something more. I also loved the supporting character of Gabe and his wonderful personality. I hope he gets his own story later in the series! I can't wait to read Adam and Sabrina's story in Book 2 of the series.Lynette Eason is one of my favorite authors, and I recently read Code of Valor (Book #3 in her Blue Justice Series). She had a crossover section in part of the book where the Dive Team Members from this book assisted with a case in her book. I can't wait to go back and reread Code of Valor since I now am familiar with the Dive Team characters! I would definitely recommend Lynn H. Blackburn to fans of romantic suspense.

Beneath the Surface (Dive Team Investigations Book # 1) by Lynn Blackburn is a Total Adrenaline Rush! Blackburn is a new to me author and I am a fan! I am a voracious reader and I need to be “hooked” quickly. Blackburn had me “hooked” in the first paragraph and I was totally invested within the first five pages.This is not a novel to read in snippets or to be read at the same time as you are reading two/three other books. (There are plenty of novels that can be read this way.) This plot is complex and if you come and go in your reading too many times or read too many other books while reading this one, you could easily lose the intensity, forget who secondary characters are and miss nuances that may be key to solving the mystery.Blackburn has given readers a truly amazing romantic suspense novel. The setting is a small town with a medical center and a neighborhood with large lots and a huge lake behind the homes. Blackburn’s characters are realistic, complex, the best at their professions, working to strengthen their faith, the romance is sweet and tender and and one is pure evil! She manages to keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire book and makes you feel as though you are running for your life. The intensity continues to rise throughout the book. There’s nothing quite as creepy as reading along and discovering the killer is from your hometown! That’s when you momentarily FORGET you’re reading fiction and start rereading the name and see if you recognize it so can ask family and friends if they recognize it! That’s REALISTIC FICTION!

I've been waiting for this book to release for a while now...and let me just say that Lynn knocked it out of the park! I loved every minute of this book - the suspense kept me on pins and needles - the characters are awesome - and the banter between Ryan and Leigh is smart and witty! I also got the Audible version of this book and it's very well done - I would definitely recommend reading or listening to this book!

Wonderfully written. Great storyline and character development. Love the faith and growth shown in the characters. Hoping Mrs. Blackburn has a long career!!! I rate her writing and stories up with Dani Pettrey, Sarah E Ladd, Roseanna M. White, Dee Henderson, T. Davis Bunn, and Tamara Alexander to name a few-all authors who not only have a good story to tell but also care about their craft and write intelligent, well thought out books that encourage and challenge the reader to go deeper in their own faith in Christ. Highly recommend and look forward to her next books!

Great book cant wait for next one. Beneath the surface held my attention from beginning to end. I love a book that shows true feelings about the way we see God. I don't always understand the way life happens but I'm so thankful He has it under His control. This book, aside from a great story also brings God to the front. Riveting suspense. The mystery aspect kept me guessing until the very end. I love the investigation team and look forward to more of their stories. I loved Ryan and Leigh as they draw closer to each other, while the team tries to figure out a serial killer that has Leigh in their sites. Loved it!

Lynn is a fantastic story teller! She started with a hook and kept me in suspense and guessing the entire time. I really liked the characters and how Lynn brought the spiritual growth in the characters and relationships they developed throughout the story. I can hardly wait for the next book in this series to be released.

Best book I've read in awhile. Didn't want to put it down. Grabs your attention right away. A must read for anyone. I usually can figure out who is guilty half way through a book but not this time. I actually had to read it to know. Must read!!!
