About the Author
Evelyn C. Rysdyk is a shamanic practitioner and teacher. She has studied with Michael Harner and Sandra Ingerman and is a graduate of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies Three-Year Program in Advanced Shamanism and Shamanic Healing. Since that time, she has worked with indigenous shamans from Siberia, Peru, Central Asia and Nepal. Evelyn helped found True North, an integrated medical center in Falmouth, Maine, where she works alongside medical practitioners to bring physical, spiritual, emotional, and spiritual healing to patients. I have read many books about shamanism but none of them compare to Spirit Walking. If you are looking for a book to build a foundation on this is it. Evelyn Rysdyk does a great job on giving the basics of walking a shamans path and you will walk away feeling fulfilled and excited after reading this book.There are daily rituals as well as how to do a despacho and more. She discusses everything from power animals to how your emotions affect your work. The book is full of practical exercises to help you build your shamanistic walk and make it a deeper more enhanced way of being.As someone who is walking a shamanistic path I found this book to be both enjoyable as well as educational. It is not focused on one branch of shamanism but rather the fundamentals of how to live a shamans way. Journeys, ceremonies, understanding the world around you, listening to your guides and so much more. You could easily spend years going through this book and referring back to it to find new and exciting things to do within your own path.There was a lot of thought and love put into this book. It is not a book for anyone who does not want to look deeply at themselves or honor the world around them. If you are looking for a book to help you develop your own personal path then this is the book you should read.
I read this book cover to cover and highlighted lots of pages and have a journal full of notes and experiences already started. This is the best book that I have read on the shamanic subject. It's well researched with easy to understand explanations answering many questions with scientific references. I like that she is writing from her own experience and authority. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in going deeper into the subject.
Love her current reference information on DNA research, and how that relates to shamanic practice. Well written, current, practical--appropriate for the intermediate to advanced practitioner.
I have recently read Evelyn Rysdyk's book, Spirit Walking, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. As a shamanic practicioner and teacher I received new insights and expanded teaching ideas from this book. Spirit Walking is packed with so much information I know that I will be reading it again - plus I will be using this book as a reference book for years to come.Spirit Walking offers teaching to both beginners and experienced practioners, it is an easy read, well organized, and I do not hesitate to recommend it.
