This was a huge hit with our Thomas fan. We bought a couple of "lift the flap" books for a road trip we were planning, hoping they might keep him occupied for 5-10 minutes (a veritable lifetime in toddler years). This book kept him happy for an hour. AN HOUR of uninterrupted happy two-year-old. In the car. Strapped into a rear-facing car seat. No snacks, no screaming, no kicking the seat, just happily lifting the flaps and absorbing all the Thomas magic found within.He still loves this book, and while he's torn off several of the flaps, he does feel bad about it. He requests it often, and loves to see what treasures he can find in Sir "Poppemhap's" house, or in the suitcases on the platform. Best book purchase we've made this year :)
My almost 2 year old loves opening all of the flaps, which come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Most of the flaps are pretty secure, but some of the smaller and oddly shaped ones (little triangles) rip easily. If you've got an eager or rough toddler, you may want to read this one together to make sure they don't rip the tiny, dainty flaps off.
Such a wonderful lift-the-flap book! I was hesitant to buy this because of the hefty price but I am glad I did. My toddlers are Thomas fans and so they like looking through the book. They also LOVE lifting the flaps and looking under them. This is a big, colorful book with lots of flaps to discover and has good educational value (has colors, numbers, etc.) The cons are that there aren't very many pages and that I have to supervise my kids when they are given this book because they can easily tear the flaps apart (I have a couple that had to be taped back together). But overall, I would highly recommend this book!
Our boys love this book! With the exception of a couple of the thinner flaps on the "Sir Topham Hat's house" page, the book has proved surprisingly durable over the years we have been using it. It is really open ended, too, so you can read it in creative ways. I am also planning to give it as a gift. I think it is good for train lovers ages 2-5.
When my daughter was about 6 years old, I bought this book for her. I gave it away to another friend when my daughter turned 15. Recently when looking for a book for my niece I looked for this book online. She is a Thomas fan and I remembered how many enjoyable hours my daughter and I had reading and looking at this book. It was the most fun pop up book ever! I was so happy that I was able to find it here on Amazon and to give it to my niece. Really a fun book!
Thomas the Tank Engine's Big Lift - And - Look BookMy grandson loves Thomas everything, but this book, while it looks like he will like it has what I call a "Small" problem in that the pieces of cardboard that you lift to see what is hidden below are very small and I found those pieces difficult to open. They are difficult to locate also and I'm a grandma, not a 2 1/2 yr. old. I plan on putting scotch tape on each tab, folding over the tape so he can grab that and maybe even find them better. It's especially strange considering the title is "Thomas the Tank Engine's Big Lift - And - Look Book." "Big" Lift really doesn't apply to the lift part, but it is a larger sized book. Not thick, just a full sized book with a good cardboard cover.I would still buy this book knowing the problem in advance, but it helps to be aware. I really don't know why it was needed to make the little covers so small, children have varying levels of dexterity as do grandmas! ;-)Delivery was fast, packaging was perfect, no complaints there. I would order a similar item again.
My son is 13 months old and this is his favorite flap book. It's the only flap book that doesn't frustrate him and he can spend up to 15-20 minutes playing quietly with it, without moving on to the next thing. I think it's because the flaps aren't all horizontal or vertical squares like most other books. They're at all angles and are all shapes and he loves that. As for durability, he's managed to rip of about 30 percent of the flaps so far, and I'm about to buy a duplicate book for replacement when he's torn all of the flaps off. But this doesn't bother me at all, because the free time I've been given because of this book is definitely worth it.
My son loves it, but it's all about the flip ups, there's little writing in it. The book is large. It's cute.
