This book is huge and at first intimidating as the author knows plenty and is not afraid to dive deep on the tools that are available through Revit. However, his illustrations are bar-none clean and the text follows the illustrations in an insanely clear matter. This author also includes plenty of software to work the examples for each Chapter. I am extremely impressed with the author and having read 1/8 of the total book, I can tell the remaining portion will be just as fun! Hope this helps someone out there.

Great resource!! Appreciate the data sets to easily follow along. Love Paul's training style and ability to break down to bite size pieces to understand and put in to a workflow that makes sense. I recommend this to anyone new to Revit and for Intermediate Levels. Sometimes you just don't know what you don't know. Paul is very thorough!

This book is exactly what I'd been hoping to find; a clear streamlined process to create projects. There are a few cases where the directions aren't as user-friendly as needed but most of them I just needed to slow down and read ALL the text.

I used this book in my introductory college class on Revit. It was a perfect introduction to this rather complex program. We found very few errors and the students were able to work through most of it without needing to be "rescued".

This is a great book for anyone interested in becoming more proficient and fluent in the art form of drum circles. I'm a much better facilitator of drum circles because of the principles, guidelines, suggestions, and teachings shared in it. If you are at all interested in facilitating drum circles, this book is a must read.

Excellent resource.

A must read for anyone interested in facilitating drum circles. Even experienced facilitators that may not have read this previously will find great value in the practical application of concepts that Mr. Hull describes in detail throughout the text. If you had to choose only one book to read regarding drum circles, this would be the one.

Arthur Hull's books are clearly written, packed with practical and useful information, and presented in a kind and humorous style that makes the material easy to digest. That would be enough positives for anyone interested in drumming, drum circles, music education, or music therapy to give this book a read-through. The kicker is that the book's content has broad applications beyond drums and percussion. To my ear, what makes a drum circle work is sensitive listening, unselfish playing, high energy and enthusiasm, and a certain amount of serendipity and risk. Anyone who cultivates these qualities becomes a better improviser on whatever instrument they happen to play; so the ideas in this book are very valuable for saxophonists playing jazz, guitarists in jam bands, or chamber music string players seeking a tighter sound. These qualities also make for coordinated work groups in areas beyond music altogether; there are reasons that corporations have drum circle events at their meetings. Drum Circle Facilitators "serve the circle;" they are the alchemists who help bring out the musicality in a group of random drumming strangers by doing the minimum activities necessary to raise the level of the group's listening, and then getting out of the way so the main method of the group's learning is by doing. In this book there are dozens of anecdotal descriptions of what can go right and what can go wrong when leading drum circle events, mainly from Arthur Hull, but also from a selection of other experienced leaders in the Village Music Circles organization. The concepts are presented within an overall system of "triplicities," a means of balancing three coordinated aspects of each leadership skill. This book also introduces a shorthand symbol system for keeping track of the events that take place in drum circle events. This system is tremendously valuable for music education; in the organization Music for People (teaching improvisation on all instruments), Hull's books are required reading in the training, and the symbol system has been used and extended to cover tonal instruments. Veteran art dealer Feigen offers up some salty tales from his decades of wheeling and dealing in the vicious and malicious world of the international art market. Feigen represented a number of artists, notably Francis Bacon, before they were considered salable, let alone successful, and was present during some heavy-duty deals in recent decades. His short chapters read like occasional essays, presented without any special order or continuity and containing accounts of meetings with artists from Mir? to Matta that have the convincing ring of someone who delights in minutiae and idiosyncrasy. (Sometimes the negotiations are described in such detail that they'll confound those not themselves involved in running art galleries.) On the downside, Feigen has a weakness for some of the lesser art produced in Chicago (where he was born), and makes too confident pronouncements on complex attribution questions involving artists like Poussin. (Sometimes he seems to prefer asserting the scandalous over the provable, as when he claims that the Italian Renaissance artist Sodoma "possibly" had sex with a zooful of pet animals.) These are relatively minor points, however, considering Feigen's willingness to tell all (or much) of what he knows, and his clear and disarming manner of doing so. Given the vast smoke screens raised by legendary dealers like Duveen about their sometimes dubious activities, this frank, detailed account by a mover and shaker in today's booming art market is sure to be discussed over many a downtown dinner. I found Richard Feigen's book to be a mostly worthy criticism of the current art world. I am the son of Sam Salz who is mentioned in a short passage in the book as a legendary art dealer. I think Mr.Feigen's description of his method of dealing is accurate even though my father's german-jewish accent is slightly overdone. My father may have been a shrewd and sometimes ruthless negotiator but he always saught a good home for "his pictures" and could judge a great one from a "postage stamp". The rest of the book deals very well with the gradual takeover of large corporate interests in the museums. Sometimes Mr. Feigen has a tendency to portray himself as the sole savior in a corrupt system but more than a few of his shots are right on target.

I highly recommend this book. A must read. Engrossing.

Feigen does a wonderful job of tooting his own horn and bashing the hard-earned reputations of others. The subtitle of the book: "The Painters, the Museums, the Curators, the Collectors, the Auctions, the Art" should have read "ME, ME, ME, ME, ME, ME". There a few useful or interesting tidbits of information buried in the book, but the challenge is staying awake long enough to unearth them.

Right on the money. The tension between current administration and curatorial museum work could not have been better demonstrated. Frank anecdotal experiences told in a lucid well crafted manner leaves you wanting more! The level of knowledge of museum boards at our best museums is sobering. The photo of the banner in front of the Metropolitan says it all--Haute couture at the Metropolitan-- Indeed! Thanks Mr. Feigen.

Richard Feigen has written a super piece of insider information about the art world, admittedly his own and centered around Chicago and New York. Superlatively illustrated, written in a personal style with a gossipy machine-gun ring to it. For anyone part of that world this book is a must and for the rest of us it is a rare wide-open window, not unlike reading a Suzy column in W magazine but with a few Art History doctorates added on.

I enjoyed this look at the art world through Mr. Feigen's eyes and experiences. The book is written in a very conversational tone with humor and brutal honesty.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I read "The Coldest Winter Ever" many moons ago, but I re-read it before reading this book to refresh my mind, but mainly just to see if there was continuity. And of course Sister Souljah did not disappoint. When I read Coldest Winter, it's obviously Winter's story so her little sister Porsche is an after thought for the reader. You get so wrapped up in Winter's story that you forget to think about what happened with Porsche. Sister Souljah has written a story that ties in perfect with the Coldest Winter, but also stands on its own. The juxtaposition of the two sisters is great. It's funny how the two Santiaga sisters reacted differently to fall of their father's empire. While winter fought to prove she was the "Baddest Bitch" and was all about her self, Porsche was fighting to recreate her family. Both girls inherited their father's ability to "hustle" but it manifests in different ways. I liked this story. I have one major issue. I felt like Porsche never dealt with the issue of "Siri" and Elisha never addressed it either.Overall, this was well written and developed. While following Porsche, I was also introduced issues in the juvenile justice system. I also wished there was some explanation as to why Ricky Santiaga never personally reached out to his middle daughter. I stopped reading for a second to think about what makes/defines a family. In the book we meet different kinds of family (Gucci Girls, Diamond Needles, The Brooklyn Business Owners, The Immanuels, etc.). The issue of mental health is put on display. As always, Souljah didn't just write a story, she wrote a story that makes you think. Her themes are well explored and developed. I can't wait for her next one.

This book was so powerful and awesome. I was turning page after page,day and night. I've loved the whole point of this book it opens your heart,Mind and soul. Even the experiences of each character moved me. God is Love and love is not always given and receive the way God planned it. People take it out of context and strip it. But I love the way the pieces of Porsche Santiaga life played out. I have laughed, cried,screamed,got upset and overcame in reading this book. I can relate as I'm sure many other can also. I really appreciate you Sista Souljah for the mind God gave you to write such life altering books. I chose this rating because of all the action and entertainment from the couples, friends and families. I'm just glad that P. got her happy story ending. I'm glad she overcame her five holes in her heart as she stated, with a love so real and supreme. Her family left her behind without giving her a second thought. Then she found eleven diamonds as her sisters and they she found the LOVE of her life and his family excepting her to replace the one she lost. Maybe it was best that she went unnoticed by her family. I understand why her father didn't write her and the twins, because he thought that Midnight had THEM. At least he explained that he spent six/eight years searching for her. Happy life.

I think that the book was just okay, but not because it was not an extension of Winter's story from TCWE. I think an important message that the book demonstrated was that Porshe was different than Winter. Porshe had not been indoctrinated by the drug dealing environment as Winter had. Porshe's family was taken away from her and he had very few choices. Winter made the decision to ostracize herself from her family when the going got rough. Porsche felt that she had something to prove to her mother through her trying to rehabilitate mom. Had Winter been a better person, her mother would not have needed rehabilitating. Porshe's dream was to reconcile with her family. Winter wanted a rich baller or participation in a lifestyle rooted in illegal activity to save her. I was not looking forward to another cautionary tale about the dangers of the drug game. I was hoping that, in spite of who her parents were, that Porshe would be able to set herself apart once she understood the dangers of the life her family lead. Once she saw her mom for the first time, smelly and dirty and literally looking for her next score, I think she understood. Those who wanted more Winter may not believe that there is any redemption from growing up the child of a dug kingpin. I find that disturbing.What I did not like about the story is it was unrealistic and presupposed that an average 10-18 year old had the resources and the fortitude to help a mom that was beyond help, to become a hustler (in a good way) and to travel extensively as she did. This was the part of the story that annoyed me.

First of all why didn't I know about this book? I read the Coldest Winter Ever years ago so I cant say for sure that it's better. But I can say I couldn't wait to get back to it and hated knowing that when I was done with it I would have to find another hood book to read.The author made me understand and love Porsche fully. This book deals with mental illness in a way I never would or expect. This will honestly help me better take care of ppl with mental illness.

I read The Coldest Winter Ever back in my college days and was floored by Sista Soulja's way of developing such realistic streams of consciousness within her characters. Her writing is so raw and tangible. I didn't know what to expect from this book because Porsche was an afterthought in The Coldest Winter ever. I was enthralled the entire time! I read this book in less than a week and I'm a busy mother and wife. Sista Soulja deserves all types of literary awards, she's a brilliant storyteller!

I struggled to finish this book. It was not exciting at all. At $11.99, I was highly disappointed. Wish I could return. This reminded why I stopped buying books. I will resume borrowing books from the library and save my bucks. Wish I could return. Readers be warned.

At about the same time Rebus starts getting anonymous letters with cryptic messages, which he thinks are from some joker - maybe even his ex-wife or daughter.As Rebus assists with the serial killer inquiry he's unaware that a reporter, Jim Stevens, is stalking him. It seems that Stevens thinks Rebus's brother Michael - a successful stage hypnotist - is pushing drugs and that detective Rebus is helping him. Stevens hopes that by cracking this 'conspiracy' he'll become famous and successful. The reporter becomes even more determined to nail Rebus when the detective starts dating attractive Detective Inspector Gillian Templer - who once went out with Stevens (literally once).As the killings continue, and the anonymous letters keep coming, it becomes clear that the murderer has a fixation on Rebus himself. Unfortunately, Rebus can't think who might have a grudge against him, especially since he's blocked memories of his SAS days. Eventually (with a little help) Rebus recalls his past and a tip from the public provides needed clues. The detective puts all this together and figures out the identity and motives of the killer, which leads to a dramatic confrontation.Though I've read many books in the Rebus series, I hadn't read this first one until now. The story serves as a good introduction to detective Rebus himself, but the plot is too simplistic and somewhat unlikely. It also starts off overly slowly but starts zipping along once Rebus gets into the thick of the investigation.For a cop on the job for 15 years Rebus's intuition is underdeveloped. He's way too slow on the uptake about the anonymous letters. Granted Rebus has a clouded memory due to his SAS training, but getting weird letters in the midst of a murder spree should ring a bell in ANY detective's mind.The author violates one of my pet peeves in this book. As much as I like Rebus as a detective I don't believe his paunchy, sloppy-looking self would get beautiful DI Gill Templer to sleep with him right off the bat. In my opinion (some) male authors are especially prone to write this kind of male fantasy and I never find it credible.Overall, I enjoyed this first book in the series and feel like it's a good introduction to Rebus and his personality. The series gets even better in later books, with Rebus becoming more fully realized as a character and the mysteries themselves becoming more sophisticated and complex.Still, I'd recommend the book to mystery fans. The Rebus books are well-worth reading and this is a good place to start.

The suspense is palpable, and Rankin succeeds in making us care a great deal about his protagonist. It’s no surprise that he resurrected Rebus in a long series of sequels and is successfully continuing to do so to this day.About the authorKnots and Crosses, was the first of Ian Rankin‘s Inspector Rebus novels, published in 1988. Rankin was dismayed when the critics treated it as detective fiction. He had set out to write a mainstream novel. Presumably, he’s no longer disappointed, having won dozens of literary awards and sold millions of copies of his books. He, his wife, and their two sons live in Edinburgh near fellow writers J.K. Rowling, Alexander McCall Smith, and Kate Atkinson.

This was my first Ian Rankin book featuring Inspector Rebus. I have a close friend who has read every book by Mr. Rankin, but to explain, she is a Brit, who probably has no trouble with Scottish phraseology. I, on the other hand, stumbled through some of the Scottish dialogue. It took me an 1/8 of the book to figure out that Knots and Crosses was a reference to Tit Tat Doe. Not essential to comprehending the story, but it would have helped me understand the serial killer's motivation in picking victims, including Rebus' daughter. It wrapped up too quickly for my taste. I was left with the feeling that Mr. Rankin just got tired of writing a thorough epilogue. I also had no clear sense of Rebus' personality or character. This might be an incentive to give Rebus another chance. Unlike Jack Reacher who is a clear and concise protagonist, Rebus seemed moody and vague. There was an old TV show produced by the BBC with Rebus as the lead, but the fictional and TV character didn't jive in my mind. Again, maybe I should try another Rankin book after a respite.
