This is a valuable record of the private meetings between Peter Kalms and the Lubavitcher Rebbe that offers a rare glimpse into the details of such meetings. Unfortunately, the particular matters being discussed are not intrinsically interesting in themselves and the constant updates on their various projects soon becomes dull. Kalms had the very good idea of including copies of letters received from the Rebbe at the end of most chapters. This also provides interesting insight into how the Rebbe communicated with his followers and details on his worldview.The book is weakened by the addition of two additional sections. The first is a one-sided reconstruction of the correspondence from the Rebbe to Chief Rabbi Jakobovitz following the Six Day War. It is difficult to judge what Jakobovitz's contribution to the conversation might have been. It appears that the concerns that the Rebbe had about the treaty details between Israel and its Arab neighbors were largely misplaced, though it is difficult to judge as very little context is given for the correspondence.The second additional section is by Herman Branover, a Russian Refusenik and physicist. This is an embarrassing defense of the Rebbe's rejection of modern science.

This book is amazing. You can stare at the intricate details of each maze as you meander through it, looking for the path that leads to the exit... in fact, sometimes I find myself just looking at the drawings while "wandering and exploring", instead of concentrating on finding my way through. The mazes vary from fairly easy to very challenging, and the themes / settings run the gamut from simple garden paths to ancient / fantasy settings, outer space, and everything in between. It's a very entertaining collection.

Wanted a book that would help pass time during trips, or even double as a coffee table book. This is it. The mazes are fun! Not too easy and not too hard. Author's liner notes say he likes to do the mazes, and come back to them a few months later to try them again. I totally agree. Hard to get sick of this book. My nephews and his friends like it too. They are all ages 6-11 and they enjoy this book. I would highly recommend as a gift or for yourself.

My husband likes doing mazes and I saw this book of them and it seemed unique and like something he'd like so I got it for his birthday. He's in construction and likes architecture so it seemed up his alley. He liked it even more than I thought he would and out of all the gifts he got for his birthday, this is the one he declared his favorite and the one he's spent the most time with. There is something about the way the mazes are done that really connected with his brain.

I am so happy that I discover this book. The illustrations are so mesmerizing. Completing the maze is nice but the journey is priceless,

I love that the author included goddesses from varying pantheons, and even respectfully challenges the ideas surrounding certain archetypes. This book would be useful to those who are just starting to explore goddess energy, or those of us who have been on the pagan path for many years and are looking for fresh ideas for rituals for personal growth. The book gives deeper insight into the Wheel of the Year and astrology, for those who are interested in those topics, this would be a wonderful addition to your library!With each goddess entry, Blackwood includes a pathworking, ritual, and recipe (oil, incense, bath salts, etc). The rituals and recipes seem deeply inspired, rather than spells that often appear in witchcraft books that seem repetitive, bland, or (in the case of recipes) untested by the author.This author writes from a feminist perspective that is warm and encouraging. However, I hope she considers writing a companion book for the god archetypes because she was able to address issues of inequality without making the topic too dry, or dismissing the male divine entirely. I think many pagans such as myself want to connect with healthy masculine energy as well as the divine feminine. Unfortunately, books that really delve into the topic are often lacking in pagan publishing.

This book is definitely a good help on finding out who you are and what goddesses work well with your archetype(s). I have found that some of my qualities and what makes me me are in more than just one sign. What's even better is that I have already been working with some of the goddesses suggested for each sign.I am really surprised and can't wait to dive in further.

within the first chapter reveals a lot of truth about yourself to be honest I put it down because it actually revealed the elephant in my relationship and I'm not ready to deal with it just yet but when I am I will pick it back up for insight.

I found this book to be illuminating, informative and inspiring. Danielle Blackwood shines as she delves into a deeper understanding of astrological archetypes, their goddess connection and the rituals necessary to strengthen and deepen those connections. She also connects astrology to the Wheel of the Year to help the reader understand better her journey on the path to understanding and embracing the sacred feminine. The pathworking stories left me breathless and I look forward to her next venture!

I used this guide to help plan my backpacking trip on the Wonderland trail. We completed the entire 93 miles. I used this guide to become familiar with some of the aspects of the trail. You definitely want to take advantage of the food cache locations at the various ranger stations. The lighter weight made a HUGE difference. The only reason I did not give the book 5 stars is because it is missing the thru-hike backpackers perspective and tips.

If you're like me and in the intermediate to final stages of planning a Wonderland hike, then you've either already bought this book or you need to. Next asking Park Rangers yourself, this is easily the most complete and accurate source of planning information available. The authors have spent years compiling information on exact mileage, elevation, campsites and resupplies; most of their information is more accurate than the maps you'll use on the trail (or even the trail signs themselves!). They include lots of useful extras like sample itineraries for 8-14 day trips (the usual span of a complete hike).However (as a warning to most people probably reading this), if you're looking for a quaint armchair adventure into the "Wonders of the Wonderland Trail" (as the name implies), you might try elsewhere. Heavy on data and light on campfire stories, this isn't a typical coffee table book for the whole family to enjoy.It's a great book--if you need it!

Ms. Filley has compiled all the information you will need to make the entire 92.6 mile journey around Mt. Rainier. Her attention to details from where to find water (a precious commodity on the trail)to place where the hiker must pause to smell the wild flowers, she provides a wonderful conversational tone to her book. Details as to miles hiked, elevation changes and what to expect at each camp along the trail really gives you the feeling you are there with her. After first 92 pages gives the reader insight into what to pack, how to pack it, what to leave behind, keys to having a success experience in the high country and bits of humor that offer encouragement. A great book for the price....something you must take with you.

This will be the only book you need to get. It is worth the weight to carry it along with you as well in your pack - so you don't miss side trips, water sources and cool things not mentioned in other books on Mt. Rainier.

I have loved this strip since it came out. And while sometimes it goes into places I'm just not fond of (I'm not a cat person so some of the time spent on cats to me is just wasted panel space) it doesn't disappoint.Anyone with dogs will be able to appreciate so many of these comics. I think everyone has had one of *those* dogs, and had some of these exact same experiences.I didn't get to have the fun of the dog and baby at the same time, but having done both separately, there's just so much here to enjoy and reminisce (and grumble about in angry memory) on each page.I haven't followed any comic strip very closely since Bill Watterson stopped doing Calvin and Hobbes, but this is the only other one that really grabbed my attention and held it.Great job, and some of the Sunday panels are outright works of art.I hope he stays around for a long time for us to enjoy.

If you love dogs regardless of whether they're being adorable or ripping up your living room, you're likely to love Dog Eat Doug. I've been reading this comic strip online at GoComics for several years, and it's a delight. Sophie is a sweet and rambunctious chocolate lab pup who, true to her breed, finds every way possible to steal baby Doug's food---or at least lick it off Doug's face. But Brian Anderson's creativity extends far beyond the expected interactions between a puppy and a baby. The household also includes two diabolical cats, and the neighborhood encompasses an adorable lake monster, enterprising local squirrels, and an assortment of critters offering adventures and commentary. Various elements of science fiction and fantasy, including references to Doctor Who and Neil Gaiman, make regular appearances. My only disappointments in this collection are that most of the strips are not in color, as they are online (presumably due to the expense that would be involved in the print version), and that the lake monster appears only once. Minor grievances compared to the joy of watching Sophie and pals cavort.

Dog Eat Doug is one of the best strips around right now. Sophie, the much put upon Lab, baby Doug, and the two mischievous cats, Chewwy and Equinox get involved in some crazy antics. Add some nutty squirrels, some strange fish, and a lake monster to the equation and you have one of the funniest, zaniest comic strips around right now. Brian Anderson knows exactly what to do with his characters and brings them to life in a wonderful fashion. If you've ever had a baby, or a dog, or a cat, or just want some great laughs, Dog Eat Doug Volume 9 is just right for you. And check out Volumes 1-8...they are hysterically funny also.And on the plus side, Brian Anderson is one of the nicest, most generous comic strip authors around today.

My 9yo grandson read this collection in one night - he loves DeD that much! The humor definitely appeals to him, as do the quirky, adorable animals and characters. My appreciation of this book is equal but more because of the sweet affection between Dough and Sophie, and the dog and her other humans and other weird friends, and the terrific artwork. Brian Anderson is one of a very small handful of terrific artists doing strips today, and the fact he can match the visual with adorable, insightful, and sometimes very strange dialog, is just terrific.

It's not as funny to me as Calvin and Hobs, but it's close. The cuteness of Sophie the dog and Doug the baby grew on me. As evening approaches, I look forward to reading a few pages of these cuties' antics before bed. Every few strips I find myself laughing out loud. But that's not necessary to enjoy them--the interaction of very likable personalities gradually make the characters seem like family, so pleasure is found in being with them whether or not there are actual laughs. Thanks, Mr. Anderson!

Enter the delightful world of Sophie, a precious pooch, who coexists with Doug, a baby, and a pair of evil genius cats! Oh, and throw in some squirrels and birds to make this one of the most enjoyable comic strips I've read in a while. If you're a dog or cat lover, this collection is a MUST! I have been using homeopathic remedies for some time, but this book opens up my understanding more on why, how much, what, and when. And because it is a doctor who says it, people are gullible to believe that drug will not hurt them!Get the book, READ IT, and then ask yourself is it worth a try? You can't hurt yourself with it, and it won't cost a fortune to buy it!

I have used this book over and over again for small things (colds, coughs etc) for my child. I have even used it for me. I first used it for me when I was breast feeding and was facing mastitis problems - saved me from taking antibiotics.

I'm glad I got this from the library before buying it. This has very little self-help in it. There are other books with more complete and more easily searched self-help sections.This book might be good if you need to be convinced about the usefulness and benefits of homeopathy for your family, but I'm past that point and got very annoyed at being cautioned on about every other page that I need to work with a trained homeopath and could not possibly do or comprehend more than simple acute care by myself. It was written on behalf of the American Institute of Homeopathy so maybe that explains something. He also cautions ominously against polypharmacy, but never gave any reason or proof why this should be so bad.

Book arrived perfect and in the time I was told.Read carefully, there is a lot of real good info.Well written for just about anybody to grasp.Now I understand how the zone valves workand was about to wire the system.Update: Feb 2013 This book let me wire a few boilers for me and friends. Take the time to read and even draw your own diagrams. An electrician wanted $400. to wire one boiler. With this book and some study, it was done and works fine.

This book is totally worthless if you are hoping to understand and design the control systems for radiant floor heating. I wish I could get my money back. The book description by the publisher and the Editorial Reviews are misleading at best. I wish there had been a buyer review at the time I placed my order with Amazon--I would have passed on this book. Avoid.

I am a complete novice when it comes to hydronic controls. Basically, I'm an owner-builder who decided to install radiant heat. Since I know nothing about setting it up, I rely on elementary books and materials from the internet to gain knowledge.Installing the PEX tubing in the slab was easy enough as was attaching the tubing to the underside of the second floor. I had intended to hire someone to finish the set-up but when finances became tight I decided to have a go at it.I'm not done yet but this book has given me confidence to continue on.

. I like this book because the topics were not very difficult to understand ,but the schematic diagrams could be more clear.

I think this book is an excellent read for anyone who knows little to nothing about heating controls. It's written in a way that can be easily understood by someone with no knowledge of technical language.
